Concert of Contemporary Sacred Music

Contemporary Sacred Music is one of the most favourite focus areas of the “Cantus” Choir. Every time the singers strive to expand their horizons as well as music tastes of its audience. “Cantus” offers the musical works of Ukrainian composers – anniversary celebrants Yuriy Lanyuk, Evhen Stankovych, Valentyn Sylvestrov as well as Andrzej Nikodemowicz, Olivier Messiaen, John Tavener and Arvo Pärt in its new concert program.

The concert will take place in Uzhhorod in the Cathedral Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

Program “BLOOM. Am I alive? … “

“Cantus” appears in Lviv on the Independence Day within the framework of the International Classical Music Festival LvivMozArt.  LvivMozArt is an arts project launched to unite the best Ukrainian and world musicians.

On the Ukraine’s Independence Day our Choir as a special festival guest will present an author’s project of Nataliya Polovynka “BLOOM. Am I alive? … ” (http://wordvoice.org/tsvit/)

Taras Shevchenko’s poetry is conveyed through folk songs and songs written by contemporary Ukrainian composers Bohdana Froliak and Valentyn Sylvestrov.

“Light/Dark Night of Soul”

The Chamber Choir “Cantus” invites the residents of Mukachevo and the town guests to be plunged in music of the most famous modern composers – Grammy winners.

This music charms by fresh harmonies, fascinates by its rhythms, tampers by its frankness and wonders by surprising discoveries. The projects has come into being on the basis of one of the most beloved programs of the Choir “The Soul” (“Light/Dark Night of Soul”) and promises the audience to have an unforgettable evening.

The concert will take place on June 13 in the Mukachevo Christian Cultural Centre.
